Comparing electrolyte brands: FAQ
How do you compare electrolyte brands?
Every value comes from each brand's published label or product page: sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, sugar, sweeteners and pack size. Prices are per serve from each brand's own store or other published RRP. We also show price per 1000mg of electrolytes, so a cheap, near-empty serve can't hide behind a low sticker price.
What does price per 1000mg of key electrolytes mean?
Price per serve divided by the total sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium in that serve, scaled to 1000mg. It's a way to compare a strong formula against a weak one fairly, instead of just comparing sticker prices.
A quantity/value measure only. It does not imply that each electrolyte has equal physiological value or that a higher total necessarily produces better hydration.
Which electrolyte powders are sugar-free?
Use the table above — sort by sodium or filter by format, then check the Sugar row. Purelyte carries 0g sugar and no maltodextrin.
What is maltodextrin, and why does it matter?
Maltodextrin is a starch-derived carbohydrate, usually from corn, used to carry flavours or add bulk. It's high-GI — higher than table sugar — so it can add a carbohydrate load even where a label lists little or no sugar. Several brands in the table above use it. Purelyte carries none.
Is Purelyte batch tested?
Lemon Lime, Raspberry and Blackcurrant are HASTA certified. Batch tested and screened for 250+ banned substances each batch. You can sort by using the Batch tested toggle.
